The Group Joining Everest Base Camp Trek is a 14-day scheduled departure from Kathmandu that you join as an individual, couple or small party. You walk the classic route to Everest Base Camp (5,364 m) and Kala Patthar with other trekkers, one guide team and a shared itinerary, so the cost of the guide and logistics is shared.
Group Joining Everest Base Camp Trek highlights
- Fixed departures, so you can book a date without organising a private trip.
- The classic 14-day route with acclimatisation days at Namche Bazaar and Dingboche.
- Everest Base Camp and a sunrise climb of Kala Patthar (5,550 m).
- Tengboche Monastery, Sherpa villages and Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
- Solo travellers welcome, with a briefing in Kathmandu where you meet the group.
How joining a group works
Choose a departure, send an enquiry, and the Thamel office confirms the date, the group size and what is included. Prices depend on the departure and the group, so ask the office for the current rate. The trek follows the same route as our private 14-day Everest Base Camp trek, but the dates and the pace are set by the group.

FAQs
How do I join an Everest Base Camp group trek?
Send an enquiry with your preferred month. The Thamel office replies with the available departures, the group size and the current price, and holds your place once you confirm.
How many people are in the group?
Group size is confirmed for each departure. Ask the office when you enquire.
Can I join as a solo traveller?
Yes. Solo travellers are welcome and meet the group in Kathmandu for the trek briefing.
What if I need different dates?
Group departures run on fixed dates. For other dates, ask about a private Everest Base Camp trek.
How difficult is this trek?
It is a moderate to challenging trek. You walk 5 to 7 hours a day and spend several days above 4,000 metres, so good fitness and a slow pace matter more than previous experience.
Is travel insurance required?
Yes. You need travel insurance that covers high-altitude trekking up to 5,500 metres and helicopter evacuation.
