Behind every Mt Everest Base Camp Trek departure is a small team: the office in Thamel, Kathmandu that plans and supports your trip, and the guides and porters who walk it with you.
The Kathmandu office
The office handles enquiries, itineraries, permits, flights and lodging, and stays in contact with your guide while you are on the trail. You can visit in person in Thamel before you book.
Trekking guides
Every package includes an experienced English-speaking trekking guide. Guides set the daily pace, check how each trekker feels at altitude, choose where to stop and decide when conditions are not safe to continue.
Sherpas and porters
Porters carry your main bag so that you walk with a light daypack. Many members of our trail teams are from the Khumbu and nearby valleys and know the villages, the lodges and the weather on these routes.
How we work
- We build acclimatisation days into every itinerary.
- We keep group sizes and staff ratios appropriate to the route.
- We carry a medical kit and arrange emergency evacuation if it is needed.
