Luxury trekking to Everest means a five-star hotel in Kathmandu, the best lodges on the trail, a higher staff ratio and, on some routes, helicopter flights, so the trek stays comfortable at every altitude.
What changes with a luxury package
- Lodging: a five-star hotel in Kathmandu and luxury or semi-luxury lodges in the Khumbu where they are available.
- Support: a higher guide-to-guest ratio, supplementary oxygen, a pulse oximeter and a full first-aid kit.
- Gear loans: complimentary use of a thick down jacket, a warm sleeping bag and a waterproof duffel bag.
- Flights: some itineraries fly by helicopter to Lukla or back from Gorak Shep, so you spend your days on the best part of the trail.
Our luxury treks
The Premium Everest Base Camp Trek (9 days) uses helicopter flights and stays at the Everest View Hotel and Yeti Mountain Home lodges. The Luxury Lodge Trek (15 days) walks up with acclimatisation days and flies back by helicopter. The luxury treks below add a full walking route and a short Everest-view option.
Luxury does not remove the altitude
Better rooms and support make the trek more comfortable, but you still climb to 5,364 metres. Every luxury itinerary keeps acclimatisation days, and we recommend them even if the schedule feels generous.
